10 Inspiring Questions

by Samuel Törnqvist

Sometimes a simple phrase can be all we need to become creative or unstuck. In fact most of the reasons we stop doing anything is because of a belief (a phrase) in our mind. For example “Why do I always fail?” or “How come I always have to do this?” or “How come I can’t do this?” etc.

These questions succeed in making you feel bad because you actually start to answer these poor questions. The answers are mostly something like “because I’m an idiot” or similar.

So you feel like an idiot and you probably stop what you wanted to do.
But, with this knowledge that questions are that powerful, why not ask some questions that make you go for it and feel stronger?

Here are 10 questions you could make anytime to become inspired. If you have a hard time answering the questions, you can always change the “can” to a “could”.
For example “What could be great right now?” if you find “What is great right now” too difficult.

  • Why will I succeed in doing this task?
Motivates you that the task will be done and how. It presupposes that it will happen.
  • What is great right now?
Sometimes we tend to focus a little too much on what is wrong. Why not change the focus a little?
  • What is great that I have not noticed?
This opens your mind even further. Life is not the same every day. We just need to open our eyes.
  • How can I do the task and have a good time doing it?
This is an excellent question to ask especially when you are about to do something you don’ look forward to doing.
  • What do people really like about me?
Yeah, why always focus on what people don’t like about you? This is a good way to discover what you are good at. You could even ask people this question.
  • How come I am so lucky?
Great question! It is like you just won the lottery.
  • What can I learn from this situation?
Sometimes we get too caught up in our emotions and how things are WRONG. We can take advantage of our every situation and turn it into powerful knowledge and experience.
  • What can I do to make me (her/him/them) feel alive and happy?
Take care of yourself and others around you. What do they really need? What do you need? Put yourself in others’ shoes.
  • What is most important in life right now? (not what is most urgent)
    Basically, what should be prioritized?
  • What else could this mean?
Great question to ask when people seem to judge you or you think people think things about you. Maybe you are not right? Maybe they meant something else? It is possible. Don’t be so certain about what you think people say about you.

Do you have any good questions to get you going?

Cheers!

I have a question.  When your stuck in a contraction, weighed down by expectations, sad because of situational reality, ‘how’ do you move through those moments?  How to be honest without just being the grumpy dumpy on the wall…?

To be honest, there is no real “good” answers to this one, but here is one idea:

Often, our biggest problem, is letting ourselves sensing what is actually happening right now. Our fear is actually mostly about feeling what is happening rather than worrying about the actual future, because we truly never know what the future is. But we do fear feeling something we are not used to, or something we think will hurt now. This is the same for expectations. So let yourself really feel and sense what actually is happening right now. This might bring more sadness in the moment, but in my experience, by letting oneself be (whatever that is), one can go through the feeling in the moment and mostly come out much clearer and see what truly matters. It usually feels much better than one thinks. It also brings some calm and appreciation for oneself. If you have a good friend who can listen without interrupting you, this can be very supportive as well.
Also, are these expectations TRULY yours, or are you just trying to please someone else? Are these expectations true?
Consider doing what you really WANT to do and focus on things that matters for your life.

It is ok to be grumpy at times. The actual problem is that we don’t accept ourselves being grumpy. When you are grumpy, you are grumpy. That is just how it is, and it will change eventually. Don’t attack yourself for feeling what you feel.

I deal with some of what you ask in other posts, but feel free to ask more.
    Cheers!
