Food Fight?

Food fight?

by Samuel Törnqvist

Food has a huge impact on your creativity.

What does food  have to do with creativity unless I am a chef, you might wonder? Actually, quite a bit.
For example, if you don’t eat, you will eventually die of starvation.

The point is. Food affects you, so pay attention to what you eat.

So, you might not starve yourself to death, I hope. But most of us don’t take care ourselves half as much as we really could. The more crap you put in yourself, usually the more crap comes out. The more love and nutrition you give yourself, the bigger chance that your body, the temple of your soul, will produce some true wonders.

Most of your symptoms and moods come from being off balance, by eating bad stuff. And you know it is harder to produce/create when you are in a bad mood. If you say “I love you” to someone. Do you think they would respond better to a sad, clingy, depressed voice or a voice full of life, sexiness and happiness?
So, how about creating art with a healthy body versus to an unhealthy one?

Of course everybody has moods and food will not take care of all of that. And I’m not saying that you should change emotions. In fact we don’t want to get rid of anything. We want to be in balance, to be in control so that we can create when we want, not being totally dependent on our cravings. There is no point in being in a bad mood all the time, right

Your body is your instrument of art and this instrument will produce much better if it is in good shape. Your food should be the best necessary treat for a precious instrument, your body.

You probably have heard that our bodies need to have a balanced system of about 7.3 pH. This refers to the acid-base scale, the chemical state your body is in. If this number changes too much, we eventually die.
Luckily, our bodies are quite amazing. By producing the acid needed to correct the imbalance, it can handle itself fairly well. Up to a point.

When you are too acidic(lower than 7.3), which most people are, you get angry, irritated, you feel tired, stuck and slow. You probably have a slightly stuffed nose too. Most simple sicknesses and symptoms are results from this imbalance.
In fact, most diseases are not from viruses attacking you, but like rats being attracted to littered streets, viruses are attracted to and created in an unhealthy system. A body being overwhelmed by trying to balance a very unbalanced system, results in a body with a poor defence. This is one of the reasons almost everybody get the flue after any big holiday season that involves a lot of food.
All that food results in an overwhelmed acidic system.

Most symptoms are easily prevented with some common sense food choices, rather than buying strange expensive pharmaceutical products after you have obtained the symptoms.

The prevention-part is fairly basic stuff. The whole point is to eat more food that makes you less acidic (if you are acidic). You can of course be too alkaline as well, but that is not very common. But the same rules apply, obviously with foods that make you more acidic in that case.

Ok, some examples to help you along:
Dairy, meat, bread, pasta, coffee, sodas, drugs and alcohol are examples of foods and drinks that a lot of artists eat all the time: These kinds of foods makes you very acidic if over-used. Some of these foods are incredible acidic, meaning just eating them in small amounts is enough to tip the scale.

What foods do you think make you alkaline? Yep, most raw veggies, fruit. (Cooked, oily and salty veggies do not help half as much.)
One more thing so simple it is almost ridiculous to mention it, but we all forget it.
Air and water will make all the difference. Are you having enough water (not tap water) and air every day? Most people don’t. And if you smoke, you certainly don’t.

Are you saying I have to completely change my diet, become a vegetarian and eat boring food?
No, you just need some more awareness of your body and a little balance.
And eating healthily does not mean boring. You are the artist, right? So create some fun, delicious food. Maybe that can be your new art-form?

I guarantee you your diet affects your creativity. If you are very acidic now you won’t believe the energy and drive you will have for your art if you were in balance.
Does food solve all problems? Absolutely not. But a healthy diet helps more than you think. And it certainly will save you a visit or two to the doctor and shave off some expensive medication.

But there is no need to get overly complex. No need to go on a crazy diet.
Just be a little more conscious of what you eat. Have a salad with every meal and have some more fruit. Drink and breathe more. And take up some exercise, something simple and enjoyable. Your inner artist will thank you for it, trust me.

Cheers!
